Mass this Week
20 May 2018
The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world and that which contains all things understands what is said, alleluia.
Almighty God, you sent your Holy Spirit to be the life and light of your Church: open our hearts to the riches of your grace, that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit in love, joy, and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
First Reading: Ezekiel 37.1-14
Psalm: Psalm 1
Second Reading: Acts 1.1-21
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia!
Sequence: Come, Holy Spirit, and send forth from heaven the rays of your light. Come, Father of the poor; come, giver of gifts; come, light of hearts. O blest Comforter, sweet guest of the soul, sweet refreshment. Rest amidst labour; temperateness amidst heat; solace amidst tears. O most blest Light, fill the inmost heart of your faithful. Without your divinity, there is nothing in man, nothing is harmless. Wash what is filthy, water what is dry, heal what is wounded. Bend what is rigid, warm what is cold, direct what is deviant. Give to your faithful, who trust in you, the sacred sevenfold gift. Grant us the merit of virtue, grant us salvation at our going forth, grant us perpetual joy.
Gospel: John 15.26-27, 16.4b-15
