Mass this Week
The 1st Sunday of Advent
To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul, O God. In you have I trusted; let me not be put to shame. Nor let my enemies exult over me; and let none who hope in you be put to shame.
Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the words of darkness and put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which our Saviour Jesus Christ came among us in great humility, that on the last day, when Christ shall come again in glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
First Reading: Jeremiah 33.14-26
Psalm: Psalm 25.1-10
Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 3.9-13
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! Let us see, O Lord, your mercy, and give us your saving help. Alleluia!
Gospel: Luke 21.25-38
Prayer over the Offerings
God of love and power, your word stirs within us the expectation of the coming of the Lord. Accept all we offer you this day, and sustain us with your promise of eternal life. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
The Lord will bestow his bounty, and our earth shall yield its increase.
Prayer after Communion
O Lord our God, make us watchful and keep us faithful as we await the coming of Christ our Lord; at whose appearance we may not be founds sleeping in sin but active in service and joyful in praise; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
