Parish Priest
The Revd Dr Steven Ogden is our Parish Priest. Fr Steven was ordained in Adelaide in 1991 and had appointments at Glenelg, Modbury and St John's, Halifax Street while teaching at St Barnabas' College before being appointed Priest-in-Charge of St Aidan's, Payneham and subsequently Dean of St Peter's Cathedral. He then ministered in the Diocese of Brisbane as Principal of St Francis' Theological College and later as Rector of Holy Trinity, Fortitude Valley prior to returning to Adelaide.
Fr Steven's early theological studies were at the Melbourne College of Divinity, which he followed up with a Master of Theological Studies (Flinders University, 1995) and a PhD in Systematic Theology (Flinders, 2005). His research interests include political theology, political philosophy, gender-based violence, power-relations, entitlement, and masculinity. His book The Church, Authority and Foucault: Imagining the Church as an Open Space of Freedom was published by Routledge in 2018, and his latest title, Violence, Entitlement, and Politics: A Theology on Transforming the Subject, was published by Routledge in September 2021. He is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Public and Contextual Theology at Charles Sturt University.
