Sunday 1 October
We celebrate the annual Festival of the Dedication of the Church. There will be a procession at 10.30 am. The date of the dedication is 14 March (14 March 1886, to be exact), but as that always occurs in Lent (when the Sunday of the season takes priority) we keep the festival on a Sunday in October.
For in this visible house that you have let us build and where you never cease to show favour to the family on pilgrimage to you in this place, you wonderfully manifest and accomplish the mystery of your communion with us. Here you build up for yourself the temple that we are and cause your Church, spread throughout the world, to grow ever more and more as the Lord's own Body, till she reaches her fullness in the vision of peace, the heavenly city of Jerusalem. (from the Preface "The mystery of the Temple of God, which is the Church.")
Our new Johannus D-350 organ (see the Special Events page) will feature in a recital by international organist Martin van Heerde, organist of the historical Plantagekerk at Zwolle in The Netherlands, on Thursday 19 October at 7 pm.
Admission free, with a retiring collection for the work of the Parish.
